According to a statement by AFAD, two earthquakes occurred off the coast of Silivri in Istanbul — the first with a magnitude of 3.9, followed by a stronger quake measuring 6.2. The earthquake was recorded at a depth of 6.99 kilometers.
The tremors were felt across the entire Marmara Region. After the two main quakes, numerous aftershocks occurred, the largest measuring 4.4 and 4.9. Later, another earthquake with a magnitude of 4.9 struck Istanbul at 15:12.
Two earthquakes occurred in the Sea of Marmara at 12:13 (magnitude 3.9) and 12:49 (magnitude 6.2). At 13:02, another 4.9 magnitude earthquake hit, with its epicenter off the coast of Büyükçekmece in the Sea of Marmara. The earthquakes were felt throughout the Marmara Region.
