Nearly ten thousand tents were burned in a fire in the Rohingya refugee camp in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh.
A wildfire has raged in the Rohingya refugee camp in Cox's Bazar district of Bangladesh. The fire spread to many of the nearby tents. Firefighters who were sent to the area intervened to put out the fire there.
Unfortunately, more than 15 people died in the fire that broke out there and about 560 persons were injured. About 400 persons are still missing after the fires that broke out yesterday. Ten thousand Rohingya refugee families, or nearly 45,000 persons have been displaced. In the next few days, this number may increase too even more.
According to the statistics conducted so far, hospitals, distribution points, training centers, and important facilities serving women in the fire in Cox's Bazar have been damaged. 550 tents were damaged in the fire that broke out on 15 January in the Rohingya refugee camp. And official sources announced that approximately 3,500 Arakan Muslim refugees lost their tents and housing in the fire.
