Cataract Surgeries and Income Generation Projects in Sri Lanka

Our projects team has delivered fishing boats to 30 families in Sri Lanka, where they went to carry out aid works. 300 cataract surgeries were performed to contribute to the solution of cataract disease, which is intense in the region.

Fishing boats were distributed to can sustain poor people their own lives and cataract surgeries were performed which disease common in the region in Sri Lanka's Mutur region.

Besides the humanitarian aids we deliver regularly we continue Income Generation Project and health projects that provide job opportunities and economic returns to Sri Lanka's Muslims living in difficult conditions.



Fishing boat for 30 families

In Sri Lanka, the island nation, fishing is an important work space for people to make a living. Our association contributed to employment with the boats which the first step of the distributions aim to have earn income the poor people of the region.

Within the scope of the Income Generation Project, our team of projects in Sri Lanka delivered 30 fishing boats and fishing materials designed in accordance with the country's requirements to the people of the region. Families living in the region under difficult conditions will contribute to the family economy thanks to this project. Thanks to the boats being distributed, beneficiaries will be able to fish about 25 kilograms and generate about $30 in revenue daily.



300 cataract surgery

As part of our cataract project in Sri Lanka, the eyes of 300 patients who had difficulty seeing and had difficulty meeting their daily needs were treated thanks to the help and support of philanthropists.



In Puttalam region where the surgeries were performed, patients were informed during 3 weeks about the location and date of the surgery. After the surgeries, the patients were checked and dressed regularly.

Since our establishment in 2010, we rehabilitated about 3,000 people through cataract surgeries in Somalia, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan.



Visit to orphanage and mosque

The project team in Sri Lanka visited the mosque and orphanage, which we built by name July 15's martyr Halil Kantarci, and consulted with locals. After the distribution of gifts to orphaned children, the team visited Sri Lankan Ambassador Tunca Özçuhadar in his office and informed about Sadakatasi association's activities in the region.



Cihad Terzioğlu, a member of the board of management, who was in the region for distributions, made a statement that; "We deliver humanitarian aid regularly as an association to the poor and needy people who live all around the world. In order to provide income regularly by providing vocational training to people, we have implemented the 'income-generating  Project'. Thanks to our project in different professional areas in many geographies, we deliver the necessary products to provide their livelihoods to the needy we have already determined. Today,  in the first step of the project we distributed boats to 30 families so that they can fish in Sri Lanka's Mutur region so that Our income-generating projects will continue in many countries in the upcoming days.''



Terzioğlu continued his statement,'' to solve cataract disease which one of the region's biggest health problems, we announced during about 20 days about surgeries and we have achieved the treatment of 300 patients. After checking the permanent projects we built, we visited our ambassador, Mr. Tunca Özçuhadar, and exchanged views on what we did and what they could do in the region. In the coming days, we will continue our immediate aids for the region.''
