After the warning of the General Directorate of Meteorology about torrential downpour and storms for Izmir, the streams overflowed after the downpour, which had started during the night and gradually increased its effectiveness, homes, and working places inundated. Several vehicles in traffic were dragged. "The city is meeting currently in a disaster. Do not leave your house unless absolutely necessary," warned Izmir Metropolitan Municipality.

23 people are stuck

"In total 673 buildings inundated and 23 people are stuck.  80 percent of the flash flood happened in homes. With an intensive mobilization, all our teams continue to work on flood prevention and damage removal in the field." said Izmir Governor.

Teams From All Over Izmir Start Out to Participate Operations

"As a result of the torrential downpour that has started yesterday in the evening hours, rainfall fell on Izmir above the average of February within eight hours. For this reason, many underpasses and roads have clogged due to flooding. Teams have been charged all over Izmir to remove the damage caused by the rain and to prevent possible troublesome situations. In order to reduce traffic congestion, do not go out as much as possible except who will go to work for preventing traffic block and problems on the road." said Izmir Governorship.
