Magnitude 6.8 earthquake which epicenter was Sivrice strikes Elazig province. 38 people were killed and 1,607 injured in the earthquake that was inflicted damage Elazig and Malatya.

Our immediate aid teams burst upon the region immediately after the earthquake and continue serving the people of the region with hot food distributions and mobile buffets.

Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu, Environment and Urbanization Minister Murat Kurum and Health Minister Fahrettin Koca moved to the region after the earthquake.

Ministers held a press conference at the crisis center at the small hours of the night.

Minister Koca said that there is no damage caused disturbing the service delivery at the hospitals.

Koca said that "8 citizens in Elazig center 8, 2 in Sivrice, 1 in Maden, 11 in total have lost their lives. Two people had a heart attack. 5 our citizens have lost their lives in Malatya"

Koca and Soylu said that a total of 1,607 people were injured. Koca added that 11 people remain in intensive care unit in Elazig.

Soylu also said that search and rescue efforts are underway in the wreckage of toppled buildings.

The earthquake was felt in surrounding provinces such as Adiyaman, Kahramanmaras, Diyarbakir, and Tunceli. 5 buildings in Elazig, 25 in Malatya buildings toppled.
