With the arrival of Ramadan, the relief efforts for Arakan refugees increasingly continue.
The locals felt the joy of Ramadan thanks to the distributing packages, Iftar organizations, the opening of 135 houses and one school, and laying the foundation of two schools which has been carried out by our association in the camps where the Arakan refugees live.
Thousands of Arakan's were killed and about 800,000 were forced to migrate to neighboring Bangladesh after the attacks were initiated by the Myanmar army and Buddhist fanatics, which began in August 2017.
Arakan People Got Permanent Homes
Arakan Muslims, who fled the massacre in Myanmar and took refuge in Bangladesh, live in refugee camps under bad conditions and in jerry-build sheds. Sadakatasi Association completed the construction of Sadakatasi Village which consisted of 135 houses in the Moynaguna camp and delivered the homes to families in need.
Thanks to 135 houses built by our association, Arakanese refugee families who fled their country and live in unhealthy and unhygienic conditions in refugee camps and empty land got houses consisting of double-layer tarpaulins, bamboo coating, solar energy, electricity and special stoves for cooking.
Sixth school for the region
Haticetul Kubra School which our association built to overcome the educational problem in Bangladesh, is the fourth school opened in the region. Also, the foundations of Ikra and Hz. Mus'ab bin Umeyr schools were laid.
In addition, within the scope of Ramadan aid, food packages consisting of oil, rice, salt, sugar, meat and chicken canned were distributed to 1700 families. During Ramadan, we continue to stand with Arakanese in their difficult days by giving Iftar to 3000 people regularly.
Haci Dursun Tunc, a member of the board of directors of Sadakatasi Association, made in a statement: "There is a nonhuman situation, the people of the region are suffering greatly in food supply and finding clean water. The majority of those living in the camps are young and the school facilities are very limited, which causes educational problems. They don't have hygienic environments to shelter, and when all these situations combine, epidemics threaten people.
Our association, which has been continuing emergency relief efforts without a break in the region since the beginning of the events, stood with the locals by carrying out hot food distributions, sacrifice slaughter and distributions, 379 water wells drilling, home, bathroom, and WC construction, distribution of hygiene food packages, kitchen and living materials and financial aids to tens of thousands families.
Thanks to Ramadan aid and permanent projects carried out by our association, Arakans were happy and they expressed thanks to the association's volunteers and officials.
