The TechAid Workshop (TAW) on Technology and Innovation in Humanitarian Aid, organized by Sadakataşı Association in collaboration with the Directorate General of Civil Society Relations of the Ministry of Interior, took place at the Turgut Özal Event Center in Teknopark Istanbul.
The event, aimed at developing innovative solutions for the humanitarian aid sector, brought together leading NGOs, technology leaders, and academics from across Türkiye.
Opening Remarks
The opening speeches were delivered by TAW Project Ccordinator İbrahim Yılmazer, Chairman of Sadakataşı Association Kemal Özdal, and Deputy Minister of Interior Bülent Turan. The speakers emphasized the importance of technology in humanitarian operations and how innovative solutions could transform the processes of aid and assistance.

Four Key Themes Addressed
The workshop explored four main themes on how technology can revolutionize the humanitarian aid sector:
- Mobile Applications: Presented by Bekir Sami Nalbantoğlu.
- Drone Technology: Presented by Muhammed Şahin and Şeyhmus Beken.
- IoT Devices: Presented by Nevzat Kocasaraç.
- Artificial Intelligence and Data Analysis: Presented by Ayhan Köksüz.
Participants discussed how these technologies could be applied in humanitarian operations and explored opportunities for cross-sector collaboration.

Keen Interest in The Workshop
The workshop saw high-level attendance, including Istanbul Deputy Governor Hasan Hüseyin Can, Deputy Director-General of Civil Society Relations Özcan Aygün, and Directors M. Fatih Günay and Fahrettin Kaya. Additionally, founders and CEOs of numerous tech companies, academics, and experts were among the attendees, showing strong interest in the event.
Future Plans and Vision for Tradition
The full-day workshop facilitated strong interaction and knowledge-sharing among participants. Plans for the future were also shared, with a vision to expand the event in the coming years and establish it as a tradition. TAW'24 aims to become a key platform at the intersection of the humanitarian aid and technology sectors, both in Türkiye and internationally.
Plans for TAW'25 were also discussed, with the aim of collaborating with international organizations such as the United Nations, the Red Cross, and OCHA to make the event even more comprehensive and global in scope.

Positive Feedback from Participants
The workshop featured roundtable discussions and panel sessions, allowing participants to share their knowledge and experiences. In their feedback, participants expressed that they found the event highly productive and indicated strong interest in following future editions of TAW in the coming years.
