It has been reported that the death toll has risen to 101 as a
result of intense rainfall and the resulting floods that have persisted for
approximately two weeks in Somalia, according to state officials.
Authorities in Somalia shared information in their statement, acknowledging an increase in the number of fatalities due to the severe rainfall and floods. The toll of those who lost their lives due to excessive rainfall and floods has reached 101, with officials emphasizing that 2.5 million people have been affected by the floods, and 1.1 million people have been forced to migrate.
Officials also noted that 4,000 livestock have perished, and 140,000 homes have been destroyed as a result of the floods.
Somalia and Kenya, experiencing the most severe drought in recent years, are among the countries most adversely affected by climate change.
Due to the floods, a state of emergency had been declared in some regions of Somalia.
