The Women's Commission made a help organization for Yemen, which was attended by 700 guests.
The women's commission organized an aid program at the Bosphorus Life Center as part of the campaign with the call of "Turkey! Voice for Yemen “launched for Yemen, which the people suffer from famine due to civil war.
Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) Yemen Coordinator Abdullah Sari, the Yemeni Melioration Association Yahya Hasan Ed-Dabba and many guests participated the organization. Also, Author Bahadir Yenisehirlioğlu gave a speech. Guests were informed about our assistance in the region. Presentations were made about the latest situation in Yemen and what can be done for the people of the region.
Since the civil war began in Yemen in 2015, the total loss of life has exceeded 100,000. Every ten minutes, a child dies in the country due to starvation. Deaths are increasing in Yemen which are experiencing a crisis in many issues especially health due to the lack of access to clean water, malnutrition, shortages in medicines and medical supplies every day. In the country, 22 million people, who constitute 75 percent of the population, live in need of humanitarian assistance and protection.
Humanitarian aid for 1 million people
President of the association Kemal Ozdal spoke on the program that "as an association, we delivered aid supplies for 2 months after our first call to Yemen regularly, where the civil war took place. To announce what is happening in the region to all of Turkey, we have launched a new campaign called 'Turkey! Give a voice for Yemen'. We will continue to pass on this plight to our people by organizing similar programs, conferences, painting exhibitions and breakfast programs for Yemen. We aim to reach approximately 1 million people in the continuation of our emergency assistance. Humanitarian aids are not allowed to deliver in the country and a humanitarian corridor in the region must be opened urgently."
President of the Women's Commission Buşra Cevik made a statement that'There is a great humanitarian plight in Yemen, we have organized this organization in order to raise awareness of our ladies and create awareness for Yemen. We regularly distribute bread, clean drinking water, and food in the region. We will deliver our aid to the sister Yemeni people regularly.''
