World Notes from Lebanon Osman Sari

World Notes from Lebanon Osman Sari

Every trip gives me a anxiety a little bit. I think it's caused by a lot of excitement, a lot of curiosity and a bit of uncertainty. The longing that began immediately after left accompany through the road. There's the thrill of seeing new places, getting to know new people.

We arrived in the Mediterranean by crossing Anatolia. Our plane started descending while it was still on Cyprus. You meet another Mediterranean after passed the Larnaka. the Mediterranean has a lot of sadness here. And Lebanon…

Our program will last a total of four days. Because of the slaughter, distribution and planned visits, a very busy program await us. We shall carry out our organization on the first day of the eid in the Ketermaya region and the second day in the Baalbek region on the third day in the refugee camps in Beirut. When I look at the schedule, I realize they've set aside the eve day to rest. But instead of setting aside today to rest, we decide to set aside it for our ancient city, Tripoli. Mr. Nebil accepted. Mahmoud's only too glad.

We found ourselves in Sabuncu(soapmaker) inn while we walked down a street in Tripoli. Zaher says he wants to introduce us to someone who's just upstairs busy with producing soap. We're grateful to Zaher for making us understand Tripoli very well for a few hours. We have to go back to Beirut.  After the night which we tired, we'll wake up on eid morning. The slaughter of the sacrifices of Sadakatasi Association will be coordinated.

On the first day of the eid, we are on our way to Ketermaya for the sacrifices we will slaughter on behalf of Sadaktasi Association with Mohammad Saad Said, who came to beside us after the salat al-eid. It all happened systematically. The cattle were brought to the slaughter area, slaughtered, savaged, and prepared for distribution.

The next day, we enter the place in which our sacrifice will be slaughtered in Baalbek. Everything's ready. we are distributing some of the sacrifices shares that are slaughtered by reading the names of donors who donated sacrifices from Turkey one by one in the same region. then, we are continuing distribution in a neighborhood where Syrian refugees live mostly. On the third day of the eid al-Adha, we distribute the shares of sacrifices we slaughtered on behalf of the donors of Sadakatasi Association in several different regions in Beirut.

With the happiness of fulfilling our duty and the good memories we have left, we enter our last hours in the region. We take our place on our plane after some Beirut tour, some pigeon cliffs,  old chairs of a bakery overlooking the Mediterranean, and friendly conversations that we get thanks to the short Lebanon trip.

Kemal Ozdal, President of Sadakatasi Association, welcomes us at Istanbul's new airport. We talk so much along the way. The most important thing that remains in my mind is that at the end of almost every sentence we say "Alhamdulillah" with the peace of mind that you have fulfilled the work also this eid.
